Blu Seafood and Bar at 2002 Hillsborough Road, Durham, North Carolina.

The food is outstanding. Customer service was second to none. My entree was shirmp and scallops with couscous and it was cooked to perfection. The Sweet Baby Jesus oysters just took my socks off with their flavor. I had a wonderful experience and would definitely come again.

Saw that they were doing a local seafood and wine pairing night so we decided to go. Called in the day of and was told that they were full but they would check and see if they had room for us. Kelly (?) called back about 25 minutes later and said they had made a spot for us which I thought was very nice because I'm sure they were about fully booked. Came in early and sat at the bar. The drinks were tasty as well as the appetizer ordered. Moved to our table and was very disappointed from there on out. It took 40+ minutes for us to receive our first course after sitting and when we received it it was about 3 bites each. Was told wine pours would be about 3/4 of a glass and were honestly about less than half. From first course to second course it was about another 30 minutes, and at that point we were starving. Portions were small (which I understand they will appear smaller once split between two people). By the time we got each meal we had already digested the last one completely and were ready for more than two bites. Our actual server was great, along with the sommelier, and the chef that came out. But the kitchen was so slow that it completely ruined our experience. I'm usually one to get full on small portions, and we just arrived home and are ordering a pizza because we're both still hungry. For the $200+ we spent tonight, there are a million other restaurants I would rather have spent half that at and had a much better experience.
